About Maisha
Maisha Najuma Aza, meaning, “Powerful Life, Abounding in Joy”, wholeheartedly embodies her name. Her wanderlust personality has taken Maisha from New York, to Atlanta, to Seattle, New England, to Chicago, Perú, before she finally decided to call Atlanta GA, where she was raised, home again. Simultaneously building her healing practice and attending Smith College School for Social Work, Maisha obtained her master’s degree in Social Work, vastly increasing her knowledge of mental health and trauma, which informs her healing practice. A natural progression from her massage therapy background, and a kundalini awakening experience that connected her to her ancestral wisdom, Maisha jumped headfirst into sacred sexuality work. This is the place her soul had always known. With this revelation, Maisha intensified her spiritual and healing bodywork, a practice she began in 1996. This renewal of her spiritual healing lead her down the Tantric Shaman path, inspiring her to share her gifts with the world through launching Black Girl Tantra, LLC. Since then Maisha has gone on to practice her calling and follow her wanderlust path across the U.S. and in Oaxaca, Mexico, Macas, Ecuador, San Carlos, Costa Rica, Bangkok & Krabi Thailand and Havana, Cuba.

Here is What You Really Need to Know About Maisha
Maisha is not only a tantric shaman mystic and empath, she is also a queer, fat, black, non-binary femme who recognizes that she is her own ancestor. She receives messages, insights and dreams from her Ancestors, about the work that she has been called to do in the world today - the shamanic sacred sexual healing and spiritual guidance work that she has done multiple times in the past.
Maisha was once afraid of these ancestral messages: ignoring them, fearing them, fearing both the messages and the messengers who came at night, in her waking dreams. She was also afraid of what people would think about her sacred work, if she did what her ancestors told her to do. With the guidance of black queer shamans and queer sexual healers, in human form, Maisha built up her spiritual muscles, her emotional intelligence, her inner wisdom and learned to trust her higher-self. She stopped running, stopped hiding, turned around, and faced her ancestral messengers, guides and teachers in the dream world. She listened with her whole body and received what was meant to do in the world. This culminated in the form of multiple Kundalini Awakening experiences that took place while, receiving reiki attunements, and communing with her ancestors.
Maisha’s sexual healing practice was born out of a powerful ancestry of sacred sexual shaman healers who called on Maisha to complete the work that she began lifetimes ago. That embodiment work is to bring erotic energy from the hidden places to the light of day, to break down social taboos and body control mechanisms that shame us, blame us and try to tame our bodies and spirits into submission. This tantric work is to consciously reconnect us to our erotic power so that we can do what we came here to do. It is time for ALL MARGINALIZED BODIES to reclaim our sexual and erotic freedom, to exist in the world as we fully are - Unapologetically full of life, love, and interconnection with all beings, plants, animals, elements and planets. The way we humans once did.
Black Girl Tantra is not only a shamanic sacred sexual healing and spiritual practice, it’s a revolutionary movement that heals through the power of pleasure. Join the Movement. Break Free!
